About five years ago I was contacted for a senior portrait session. I normally refer these out but I was feeling fun and didn’t that particular time. I can’t express how happy I was to have made this decision even at that time because I met Hannah, her Mom and her little brother that day in Missouri for a senior portrait session and it was so much fun I actually considered adding senior sessions into my business. I didn’t but I still have Hannah’s senior session in the archive and if I ever do decide I have time to photograph seniors, Hannah will be all over that portfolio.
Skip ahead four years and I received an email from Hannah’s Mom, Kim, letting me know this sweet Hannah was getting married the following Summer. Time flies. I was ecstatic they found me again and asked me to photograph such an amazing day for their daughter. In other words, I was saying, “YES!” on the inside. Hannah and Aaron were high school sweethearts and after school Hannah went to college in Alabama, studied abroad and traveled the world while Aaron joined the Air Force and traveled the world. It only makes perfect sense that they toured Europe for a few weeks on their honeymoon.
It was such an honor to be present at Hannah and Aaron’s wedding day. I only met Aaron several days before the wedding and learned quickly that he adores his bride. They choose one of my favorite venues, The Elms, in Excelsior Springs with a ceremony in the gazebo and gorgeous reception decorated with Aaron’s Grandmothers mason jars and flowers everywhere. I met Hannah’s grandfather before the ceremony and wanted to take he and his wife out for coffee. He had some stories and I could have listened to them all day.
Of course, Hannah and Aaron are photogenic and looked amazing but I observed how relaxed and sweet they are with each other as well. In fact, the entire wedding party was so fun and easy-going from getting ready to the reception. The last photograph of the evening, as always, was a night shot and this one was outside on a gorgeous Summer night. I want to thank the very sweet bridesmaid that came with and helped us out because it turned out so wonderfully!
