  • Welcome!

    Hello. Thank you so much for stopping by and taking an interest in my passion. I love to photograph people and especially people in love, such as on your wedding day or being with your newborn baby during his or her first days of life. Moments that would otherwise fade are very dear to me as I make them into an artistic expression for you to keep forever. Please take a look around, get in touch with any questions or to book your wedding, newborn or baby session and leave your comments on the blog. Call Heather at 913-948-3918. We love hearing from you!

Overland Park Marriott Wedding

It was beyond wonderful to work with Katie and Chris on their wedding.  This super hilarious group kept me on my toes since I was shooting alone but it couldn’t have been more fun.  And, my favorite part of the day was catching the tender moments Katie and Chris share when they don’t think anyone is watching.  Chris’s Dad performed their wedding ceremony at the Marriott in Overland Park where they also had a gorgeous set up for the reception.  It was such a gorgeous May day.  Thank you, Katie and Chris, for letting me play a part.  Congratulations!!

St. Louis newborn photographer

To me, there’s no greater honor when someone allows you to be the photographer on their wedding day.  It involves a certain level of trust, respect and fondness of each other.  This couldn’t be more true of my fondness for Jackie and Matt when I photographed their wedding in St. Louis in 2009 and it’s true to this day as I was so happy to be asked to capture the memories and portraits of their first born son, Owen in April.  In fact, they may be two of my all-time favorite clients; sincere and genuine, if I lived in St. Louis still, I’d make them go to dinner with my family as many times as it would take until they were hooked and our children were buddies!  Taking Owens’ newborn portraits were different for me as they were taken in a new space with onsite set up and break down of the back drop, etc. but Owen took it easy on me as he was super sleepy and sweet!

Thank you so much for the opportunity!

Downtown Kansas City Engagement {Kendra + Steven}

This incredibly adorable couple is also overwhelmingly sweet.  I love them.  The West Bottoms in downtown Kansas City was a great back drop for this engagement session.  We decided to hit up the Memorial and Kauffman Center too.  Spring has been good to us…Let’s hope Fall is amazing too for the wedding!

Thank you so much, Heather! I adore each and every one of these pictures. Can’t wait for the wedding!

great things

My first cup of coffee was actually when I was meeting with a photographer in Chicago after college and discussing me shooting with him.  I never actually drank coffee before this because I never really had the desire to but it was a chilly day and Starbucks just smells so yummy all the time…so my first taste was a latte.  I was hooked and spoiled from day one.  Now, with two kids at home and a full time job, I’m also a bit addicted to the bean-juice.  I even have my own espresso machine (thanks Dad, Merry Christmas!)  So, raise a cup to my newest pleasure, this gorgeous mug.  It inspires me.  I like it.

xoxo, Heather Brulez

Town Square Wedding {Jen + Brian}

Last Saturday was a gorgeous day for a wedding and everything came together for Jen & Brian’s wedding at Town Square in Paola perfectly.  Every detail was thoughtfully planned and executed with the same grace and elegance as Jen herself.  The girls were looking amazig with the help from the girls at Encounters Salon.  Ashley, with Good Earth Floral Design, transformed this already gorgeous space into an elegant and glamorous wedding reception with lush and simple garden flowers, such as my favorite peonies, and the right amount of bling.  The ceremony featured a personal touch with a wine box that included letters from Brian’s Grandparents to the young couple and a letter from each of them to the other to read on their fifth wedding anniversary while drinking the wine.  So cute!  Jen and Brian are responsible for all the paper details and Brian made the F to represent their last name as a signature, “Guest book,” for guests to sign as they entered the ceremony. Aside from having some amazing vendors and personally making their own details, Jen also resourced from Etsy for several items. What did we all do before Etsy?  I usually don’t suggest having our time until the end of the reception but I’m quickly changing my tune as it was so great to capture all the fun at this reception up to the sparkler exit. And, the party was well maintained by Michael Lauren Weddings.

Check out more from this wedding day as the new Featured Gallery.

Jen and Brian were married yesterday in Paola, Kansas and I can finally show off some gorgeous portraits from Jen’s bridal session.  Mr. and Mrs. Wedding Planners were gracious enough to open their doors up and let Jen and I shoot her bridal session and it was ever so darling!  Mr. and Mrs. is located in the heart of downtown Kansas City in the historic Firestone building and have done an amazing job creating a space for locals to plan their wedding.  Isn’t Jen stunning!  Be sure to check back later this week for the wedding preview… it’s a fun one!
