A few years ago, Alec led his family on a pilgrimage in Rome. He used an article on Catholicism as supplemental reading during this pilgrimage. As fate would have it, Molly, his future wife, had written that article and God’s timing and story for these two begins.
Molly + Alec like to say they met a few times. The first time, Alec was just a mutual friend she met in a coffee shop. She was a freshman and he was a graduating senior. They were both seeing other people at the time. They met a second time the next year, both single. Alec was flirting with Molly at a house party and attempting some bad card tricks. This didn’t work out! The third time it was Molly’s birthday, exactly one year before their wedding date. The next month Alec arrived a little late to the City on a Hill event and the last chair open was next to Molly. Next thing you know, the party was clearing out and they were the only ones still lost in conversation! Molly says it was one of the most authentic conversations she’d had with a guy.
Leading up to Molly and Alec’s wedding day, they prayed a 9 day novena together, finishing during a blind first look on the morning of their wedding. They were both so nervous and excited. I felt I needed to follow Alec outside after this blind look because he was so full of emotion and I’m so happy I did. His joy and love for Molly was written all over his expression. I loved every beautiful moment, including the group in church, praying a rosary before the ceremony. Fr. Mattingly gave such a beautiful homily, I asked for a copy of it after the mass so I could read it later and he gracefully obliged. He spoke about how God’s grace is present in marriage. And thankfully so! And to ask for his grace when we need it. He also spoke about the humility of Jesus making him more approachable. It was truly beautiful and much more eloquently spoken than I can relay here.
Molly is now the sole copywriter for Essense of Australia, a global bridal gown company with headquarters in Perth, Australia and Lenexa, KS. She wore a custom Martina Liana Bridal Designs gown from Belle Vogue Bridal and a pair of elegant (and comfortable) mules. Molly said, “getting to work with the team on creating my dream dress while at work is an experience I’ll cherish forever, and I cannot wait for it to be photographed!” I must add, this was such a fun dress to photograph and had amazing movement during the portraits!
Molly made surprise cufflinks for Alec engraved with her handwriting, to give him the night before. They say “Let’s do this” and “-Your ride or die” with the date on it.
It was such an honor and joy to be present at Molly + Alec’s wedding day! Thank you!!
