About a week prior to their official first date, Nicole spotted Josh while shopping in the grocery store, walking around in his Carhartts with his single-serving basket in the frozen-dinner section after work. She didn’t want to ruin their planned first encounter, so she hid in the baby food aisle to ensure he didn’t run into her. She was mesmerized by him and hoped he didn’t need buy frozen TV dinners for too much longer!
On their first date, at an apple orchard on the edge of Cayuga Lake, Josh had spent the past harvest seasons picking fruit for Cornell Orchards and wooed her with his voracious apple picking ability, while she twirled and danced around with the fruit picker basket-on-a-pole. It was love at second sight. 🙂
Later that evening, like a Top Chef challenge, she impressed him by making an apple pie with the limited ingredients in his bachelor-fridge and pantry. Josh and Nicole sat on a wraparound country porch, evening falling, peeling apples and making the peels into jewelry and hats. It was then that they each knew the other was the creative and goofy love he and she wanted to spend the rest of their life with!
Now seriously, that’s a first date! We spent their engagement session at a local Apple orchard, Weston Red Barn Farm and the perfect night sky as the evening fell, again.
I look forward to seeing these two again soon at their downtown Kansas City wedding at the Guild.
It was a gorgeous session with two amazing people. Together, they relax, have fun and enjoy life. I love that about them and getting to know Nicole and Josh this year shall be epic!
Thank you! Heather Brulez
